Youth Speak Out Training

Saturday, May 30, 2015 @ 09:00 am

Join us for this free two (2) day session that focuses on providing youth with the necessary skills to promote systemic change in policies around child welfare.

We'll train you to speak in public, participate in panels and create films and artwork about why you need permanent families.  You can then use your messages to tell legislators, policymakers, social workers, family court lawyers and judges, potential adoptive families, and other decision-makers what it's like to be in foster and group care and why you need families who will stick with you - forever.

Please read these registration requirements before you begin:

  • Adults must bring 1-5 youth to the conference.
  • All youth under 19 must be registered by the adult accompanying them.
  • Youth must be between 15-24 years of age, and must be in or from care, aged out, or adopted.
  • You must know the email address and first and last name for each youth you register

Logistics:

All youth will receive free food, free training and an honorarium

There is lots of parking available at the hotel.

The hotel is near the Gilmore skytrain station - an 8 minute walk, or take the #28 bus near the station.
